A Mission Statement for the Canada-Australia-UK-US Foundation (CAUKUS)

The CAUKUS Foundation is a privately-organized, publicly-funded forum dedicated to improving and sharpening the consensus within our four predominantly English-speaking nations about the looming threat to international security presented by the People's Republic of China, led by the Communist Party of China. It operates by bringing recognized subject matter experts about the PRC into contact with governmental, legislative and military officials of our four nations in off-the-record, candid conversations about the problems facing us. Among these are an overall military build-up by the People's Liberation Army, confrontational challenges in the South China Sea, a growing threat to Taiwan, predatory economic policies with respect to natural resources, and increased PRC cooperation with hostile forces in Russia, North Korea, Iran and Cuba.

Our four nations are similarly challenged by our open and staunchly democratic political systems, all of which encompass substantial diaspora communities, including ethnic Chinese. The CCP has increased its efforts to undermine these communities in support of their regional and global goals, a challenge to which we must respond adroitly but firmly.

These contests are unprecedented in the modern era, and our fragmented and competitive political systems are susceptible to manipulation by CCP united front influencers and Ministry of State Security subversion, especially in social media. We should aspire to build consensus on the scope and scale of the problems presented by the PRC, cooperating among ourselves and with other allies in the Asia-Pacific region to deter Beijing from engaging in risky or provocative behavior.

Other democratic nations, such as Germany and France and the Republic of China (Taiwan), are being invited to join this endeavour.

Our individual and collective futures will depend on the success of our endeavors.
